Iconic Hello Kitty Sanrio macarons baked using the French meringue method and paired with matcha green tea French buttercream filling.
If you’re a fan of Hello Kitty like my best friend is, you’ll love these! She had her eyes on these the minute I posted it on Instagram. I believe her response was “Ooh, when can I eat?” She’s my inspiration for making these as cute as possible.
Hello Kitty French macarons filled with matcha green tea French buttercream – not too sweet and not too bitter. These macarons are decorated in fondant bows in colors pink, purple and sky blue. You can find the mold on Amazon or Etsy. The eyes, whiskers and the button nose uses edible food markers by Wilton. This delectable French macaron is great for many special occasions.
If you’re not familiar with matcha powder, it has a bitter taste to it. Combine that with the French buttercream and it produces a light but creamy texture. Otherwise, if you prefer a stronger matcha green tea taste, add in another teaspoon of matcha powder. Stop to taste your buttercream until it’s reaches desired consistency and sweetness. I love the vibrant green color and aroma when the ingredients combine together.
According to Wikipedia – Hello Kitty is good at baking cookies and loves Mama’s homemade apple pie. Maybe Hello Kitty is also good at baking French macarons? 🙂
