What’s cuter than pikachu? Pikachu ice cream cones in a macaron form! These ice cream cone macarons includes an cotton candy French buttercream.
Hey guys! It’s about time I create something Pokemon since you know, that’s one of the shows I grew up on! Gotta catch ’em all..Pokemon! My favorites were Vulpix (I had a cute stuffed plushie) and Charmander. So cute! I also had pikachu and togepi stuffed plushies somewhere in my room. Away from the dust and away from light. =P
Pikachu’s favorite “food” is the condiment, ketchup. I definitely do not ever plan to make a ketchup buttercream. Or a mustard buttercream for that matter. Ew, gross. Since I have made macarons with strawberry, raspberry, passion fruit and matcha green tea buttercream in the past, I decided to fill these ice cream cone French macarons with an cotton candy French buttercream.
It will help to break it down into your basic geometric shapes. The face is your basic macaron circle. The ears and cone are triangular shaped so draw your points and pipe those lines. Wait a couple minutes, maybe five, until a skin forms to define the texture on the cone and facial expressions. Additionally, you can get away with yellow and brown batter to use an edible food marker for the rest of the details… which is what I did. =P
Pikachu Macaron Notes
- Gel Food Coloring: Lemon Yellow, Super Black, Electric Pink/Super Red and Warm Brown
- Other options to decorate is to use Wilton’s edible food markers. Black for the eyes and tip of the ears and red for the cheeks. You can also use the brown edible food marker for drawing the lines of the cone.
- Amoretti Cotton Candy Natural Artisan – I made the normal French buttercream frosting and then drizzled some cotton candy syrup on top to mix it all together. Since my buttercream was a bit soft, I added about 3-4 tablespoons of powdered sugar for a firmer consistency.
